"Sew" in Love

My daughter, Scarlett just celebrated her 14th birthday yesterday. When we went shopping for a new shirt, she fell in love with this one. It was a size small, yet hung way too low around the neckline and shoulders. Ordinarily I would have put it back on the rack, but Scarlett really seemed to love it and really wanted to wear it on her birthday. So, I examined the shirt closer and found that all I had to do was pull the elastic a little tighter and that should do the trick. So, with the aid of a seam ripper, a pair of scissors and a hand sewing needle, we were able to cut 12 inches of elastic off and sew the casing back down again. Sewing with love for the ones you love is the best. feeling. ever.

Ciao for now,

Chocolate is a Sewing Tool

If you ever receive anything I have made for you, please disregard any evidence of chocolate, coffee or wine. These are essential "tools" in my sewing room. ðŸ˜‰ ~Jordan #chocolateisasewingtool #madewithlove

Watch out blogland, here I come!

Hello. I am hesitating on beginning this blog due to my procrastinating tendencies, yet I feel this is where I am supposed to be heading next. I am sure I will make lots of mistakes along the way and I already have. This is actually my 2nd blog platform I started today. Yep, I lost my other blog (not to mention many hours) and one day I may find it again, but for now it is taking a little vacation in a black hole on the internet. I am SO gonna love crossing this off today's list!

Anyhoo, in October 2014 I started a business with my friend, Patty, called My Best Friend's Sewing Room. We teach kids how to sew and we hope that they will pass this life skill down when it is their turn. I use our Facebook page a lot to post what I do, but I want to post more than what goes on with my business, hence this blog. I am not just a sewist, and I never really could fit myself into one category. I am sure many of you can relate to this.

For those of you who don't know me, I am from Monterey Bay, California (the BEST place in the world besides Tuscany) and wouldn't be living here in Georgia, except in 1997 I met and fell in love with my husband, Jose, an army recruiter in Capitola, CA. The army sent us to Germany, Miami and Augusta where we finally settled down with our two beautiful daughters, Scarlett and Giovanna. We also have a long-haired chihuahua named Boi.

I really wanted to post a current photo of my family on my first blog post, but unfortunately, the last photo I could find of all of us is from a wedding back in 2013 because as you know, Mom (AKA me!) is usually the photographer and, well, you know how that goes. Time to add "schedule a family photo shoot" to my to-do list. The good news is that this is actually the latest photo of myself. Go me!

Enough for now. I am supposed to be hemming up seven layers of fabric and making nice with my serger to get Scarlett's dress ready for Social. Sounds like the subject of another blog post.

Ciao for now.
